Doll Face.

This is my Racewear outfit from last year called "Doll Face" which I designed and made. Iv been meaning to post this up for a while and finally thought I better do it, and funny enough it kind of suits with the bunny ears and it being Easter.  Oh yeah Happy Easter!

I designed this outfit for the Melbourne cup Races in the Contemporary section. The fabric for the skirt is from France which is a Gold Brocade which I purchased  from Tylers fabric store in Melbourne.  As soon as I saw it I fell in love which it. The skirt is probably one of the hardest things I have ever constructed, I think there was seven layers of different fabrics and stiffeners to create the tube like shape.  I made the blouse quite plain to balance out the skirt and ensure that the skirt was the focal point and also to actually make the outfit wearable.

The matching collar ties the outfit together and at the last minute I stumbled across these collar tips from ASOS.  As the outfit is mainly all gold and beige tones I wanted a pop of colour for the head piece, and nothing pops more then pink!  To be honest I don't really like many of the head pieces I see at the races, there are always to many feathers!  I spent ages trying to find the right pink that wouldn't look tacky but wasn't to dull.  Let me just say I spent a lot of time sitting on the couch in front of telly hand sewing all the creases in the bunny ears.
